Fei Rosebro, in her second year competing in the Richmond Women's City Amateur Championship, has claimed her second championship.
Rosebro’s win marks the second time in the last four years a back-to-back champion was crowned, following Kristine Rohrbaugh's consecutive titles in 2021-2022.
Rosebro teed off against Arianna Martin this morning in the Championship Flight. Refereed by Bert Wilson of the Virginia State Golf Association, Martin was up by two going into the 16th hole, but Rosebro played strongly in the last three holes, winning the final three.
Rosebro attributed her composure in the final rounds as the key to securing the win. She also praised her opponent, saying, “She played really well, she didn’t make a lot of mistakes.”
“It’s been great seeing some young faces out here and I hope more see this and are inspired,” said Rosebro.
Friday was full of championship round play. In the Championship Consolation Flight, Rica Rohrbaugh claimed the title. Winning must run in the family, as Rica Rohrbaugh is the mother of past champion Kristine Rohrbaugh. Her match against Nevia Cashwell was close, going 18 holes, with Rohrbaugh winning by one stroke.
In Flight 1, Karla Knight came out on top against Valerie Sarrett, winning up five with three holes to go. Marylin Cole finished atop the Flight 1 Consolation group.
Flight 2 saw Sharon Talarico win the championship. Talarico won 8 of the 12 holes played, and CJ George won the Flight 2 Consolation, up three with a hole to go.
In the Flight 3 finals, Elsa Shapiro-Rose won in 15 holes against Laurie Cobb. In the Flight 3 Consolation, Jane Cashion emerged as the winner.
In the final group, Gail McDaniel claimed victory over Kelly Wichman, and Diane Pominski won the Flight 4 Consolation match.
The 2025 Richmond Women's City Amateur will be held at the Dominion Golf Club in Glen Allen.
